None of us want to see anyone suffer, but she is still a child, like Kate-dono. I'm sure they'll want to treat her kindly, but I'd hope they don't hesitate.
I know. There's little we can do from here. [ as usual. ] It's the same as it's always been.
[ wait, wait some more, welcome the dead, wait again, get information, send letters, repeat. always so little they can do to actually help. it's been driving him crazy. ]
...It's a summoning ritual, isn't it? Perhaps not entirely unlike my own, although I doubt the god they want to summon is a tsukumogami like me. It sounded like they're imaging how it will appear and act when its vessel is complete.
I've just been getting repeatedly asked to give more information surrounding it, and the problem is that I don't know much. I only learned when I got here myself, after all.
The sermons sound more like a religion that others are familiar with, and they're also not too-different sounding from the ones related to Alll-mer from my world either.
They've accumulated a millipede, wings, teeth, tongue, spine, and heart over there, and whatever else new they've gotten. I suppose a leg and arm just matches up with the rest of that... though why split between here and there is definitely something to ask.
All the information we have, Cloud-dono shared in the meeting he held this week. I don't have much more to offer than that, unfortunately.
[ another reason he's been so frustrated. ]
It's nothing like the sermons that I am familiar with through my former master's tenure as a monk. But there is no central god to worship, only those who may help guide others to enlightenment - perhaps that's the difference.
I don't understand how all those components would help to create the vessel they're aiming for, unless it isn't a human one. But if it's anything like how my master summons touken danshi, then they would need some materials. For us, it's the sort of things you'd expect to see in a forge - steel, charcoal, and the like. I don't think we know enough about their god to know what to expect, though.
Was hoping a follow-up might jog your memory or serve as a bit of a brain exercise, but fair enough.
It's supposedly a godling, so I wouldn't put much faith in the idea that it's going to be a human.
[ My phone autocorrected to gosling and I was like please, don't let the cult summon a giant goose. ]
...For the occult, it's... let's just say it tracks. To increase affinity, Gro-goroth accepts blood sacrifices, Sylvian accepts acts of love... the Tainted One accepts severed heads to exchange for soul shards, the grim list goes on. Scattered body parts as they are, even with the differences in occult in my world and others, I can see the image.
I only meant "human" in a manner of speaking. [ gestures between the two of them. ] The form of the body, in a sense. I never expected to actually be human - just like I'm not, even with this body of mine.
They all seem to be human parts, except for wings and the millipede. I'm not sure exactly what that could mean for it, but my first guess was that they were trying to use the monsters they're summoning as parts for this god - another type of chimera, perhaps.
[ looking back and realizing i missed a crucial word - "never expected IT to be human." anyway moving on ]
I suppose I just don't understand why they'd need to sacrifice something like a millipede when they've been regarding all of us as sacrifices up to now. But I'm no master of the occult in any sense - just a spirit.
Sorry, I was being metaphorical with my words. I didn't mean sacrifice the millipede in the same way we're supposed to be sacrificed.
Anyway, it's... mm. I suppose since everyone else seems to be weirdly fond of using a soup metaphor... it's all just different ingredients, but all important in creating the concoction in the end. The pot, the water, the fillings, aftertouches.
[ He blinked and then everyone was phrasing the sacrifice thing like a soup. He doesn't get why but it's a little funny. ]
Wouldn't make for a good concoction if it was just more water, or something. I assume it's like that, anyway. Ultimately anything I say here is just conjecture.
I suppose it’s just the simplest way to explain it without the cult catching on. But conjecture is really all we can offer right now, beyond making sure the other side knows what they need to. [ frowning. ] Nehan-dono keeps telling us to be patient and the answers will come in time, but it’s hard not to think about it when people we care about are still in danger.
I know. A lot of our suggestions have been to wait. Even the things we supposedly can do, like retrieve machine parts or rune-covered rocks, ultimately suffers the problem that we can't go looking for them on our own. The town itself will spring it on people instead.
I'm not happy about it either, but what can we do? We'll just have to trust Mr. Nehan's insistence and that our patience will pay off.

Miss Banner would probably prefer something swift and without fanfare, too.
Perhaps something like how they handled Karlach.

...I still wish fate had been kinder, though - to all of them.

Let's just prepare to take on whatever information we'll unlock tomorrow, and be sure to welcome whoever all arrives, yeah?

A question for you. In regards to the seeming religious sermon and its relation to arms and legs, do you have any theories about that?

Yes, I picked up on that. I wouldn't put much faith in that regardless, although anything is possible. Sacrifice a millipede and get a man, why not.
Nothing has to be one-to-one in the occult. What matters is the idea of it. I just don't know what it signifies yet.
