The implications seem obvious, in the horsemen's case. Death was pretty dreary about it in particular, kept encouraging me to be more rightfully suspicious of them -- like their role weighed heavily.
They did keep asking us not to be too friendly, didn't they? I suppose the question, then, would be who exactly they may have betrayed. The cult, or their fellow overseers.
[ they don't know enough, and with the village hiding everything, they may not find answers. maybe it isn't even worth thinking about.
...but a life is a life, no matter how it was used. ]
I expected we may face casualties, eventually, but only among our own number. The overseers weren't supposed to be part of this ritual at all.
Friendliness doesn't make one any less deadly, when the moment calls for it.
[ iwatooshi considers himself pretty friendly, after all. ]
That is what I thought, too. I don't want to suspect them, when they've been open about wanting to help us, but we mustn't forget how little we still know of them all. I do think it's more likely that others were responsible, though. They seem to be outliers among their cult.

It's specifically meant to keep people from moving, then.

It was different than the usual. Not quite solid - we could cut through it as easily as any other day, as well, but it simply wouldn't let us through.
It feels deliberate, knowing what happened last night. Someone, perhaps the cultists, must have cast a spell to keep us contained.

Real pain, if you ask me...
But if they did, then it means they were planning for what happened next, doesn't it.

Do you think their peers would have done this? Pestilence is very helpful and downright friendly, all things considered.
...
Wouldn't make sense to kill Death for being a traitor... they were all in on it.

Right.
I’ve been keeping on thinking to myself that a week’s a pretty long amount of time but it’s really not.

A week is hardly a moment in time, for better or worse. We may have to move faster, after this.

Can only go as far as the track allows us, after all...
Even just the smallest push could make all the difference.
